Athlete Bio
Marshall Johnson is a natural bodybuilder with over 30 years in the sport, known for his razor-sharp conditioning and his legendary “50’s Are the New 30’s” comeback story.
He started competing relatively late — his first show was in 1996 at age 36 — but quickly became a force on the natural stage. After a successful early career he stepped away for roughly 10 years. In 2010, at age 50, Marshall made one of the most impressive comebacks in natural bodybuilding. That year he competed in a grueling schedule of shows across the country, brought superior conditioning, and landed on the cover of Natural Magazine with the headline “50’s Are the New 30’s.”
At 58 he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and blood clots in his lungs. By the grace of God it was caught early, treated successfully, and he made a full recovery. After cancer he thought his competitive days were truly over and even took up golf.
But the fire never died. At 62 the itch returned. He started training with real purpose again, regained his Professional cards with the ANBF and OCB, jumped back into a pro show — and won.
Now 65 years young, Marshall continues to train, compete, and inspire others with the mindset that age is just a number and it’s never too late to get back on the stage “crispy and clean.”
He is a firm believer that faith, smart training, proper recovery, and an unbreakable work ethic allow you to keep pushing forward no matter what life throws at you.
